Late Blooms 2007 Honorable Mention: Reeves Keyworth
The World Is Ice Cream
The world is ice cream, I know it.
But when I note this eucalyptus,
how it accepts the movement of the air
in the late and secular sunlight
as a black brush stroke
accepts what is jokingly called
negative space, then I'm struck
by the process that turns light
into cocksure greenness and
the enduring living labor of the tree.
